The eye once belonged to the human body. It was through the eye that we encountered the world and one another. Today, that relationship has fundamentally changed.

The desire to be seen has always been part of the human condition. Yet in contemporary life, this desire has grown beyond the individual, evolving into an ideal that demands constant attention. The gaze is no longer simply a means of perception; it has become an object of devotion.

Throughout these works, the eye appears detached from the body, enlarged beyond human scale, occupying landscapes as a monumental presence. As the eye expands, the human figure diminishes. It gradually loses its role as the one who sees and becomes defined instead by its need to be seen.

These figures are not merely observed. They exist within a condition where visibility determines value and recognition becomes a measure of existence. The one who once looked at the world slowly becomes the one who waits to be looked at.

These paintings explore this reversal: the moment when the gaze ceases to belong to us and becomes something that stands before us. In elevating our own desire to be seen, we ultimately diminish ourselves beneath it. The eye is no longer ours; it has become a monument to the very desire we created.
